Aunt Frances Owens: Eye of newt and toe of frog, wool of bat and tongue of dog.
Aunt Jet Owens: Adder’s fork and blindworm’s sting…
Aunt Frances Owens: Barbados lime is just the thing.
Aunt Jet Owens: Cragged salt like a sailor’s stubble!
Aunt Frances Owens: Flip the switch and let the cauldron bubble!

The margarita-kitchen scene ⬆️ will forever been one of my favorite moments in cinema. (It helps that Sandra Bullock is my girl-crush to end all girl-crushes, y’all.) I love watching that movie every year come October.
October (thus far) has been a cool month.
- Heavy into NaNoWriMo prep and it’s finally starting to all come together. I tossed my original idea from the summer and I started fresh (last week) with a new storyline. Managed to catch some random inspiration and rolled with it.
- Started a new part-time job that I’m ecstatic about. More on that later.
- Had a fall “open-house” with Momma. October, being Breast Cancer Awareness month, holds a certain place in both our hearts. There were candles and lipstick and jewelry and so many beautiful faces.
- Had a week of vacation at the beginning of the month – plenty of family time and woke up to the sounds/smells of the lake. It was a much needed separation from “everyday” but I sure did miss my Brown Dog.
Favorite Book I Read in October (Spoiler: There was a tie.)

This small write up on my main character in the western I’m working on ➡️ Preptober :: Odette – I seriously am so proud of her already. She faces all these unique obstacles and she utterly demolishes them in a time when women were meant to be seen not heard. In a way, I think I write her to be the kind of woman I want to be.
I start a writing workshop (online) tomorrow night. I’m stupid excited. Thinking I’ll share bits and pieces of what I come up with on here each week.
Other than that, November’s word is looking to be isolation. (Ha.) I CANNOT wait to try and knock out 50,000 words in 30 days. Nerd alert.
What about YOU ALL? What’s going on in your neck of the woods? Tell me what you’re reading/writing/studying/photographing.
Lots of love.
